Nom Nom Knowledge Exchange Burger

The NomNom Knowledge Exchange burger was created to present the concept of mobilizing health research knowledge for students in 2020. Each element of the burger represents a different consideration for an effective knowledge mobilization strategy. The solid evidence base is your foundation and should be comprised by peer-review research articles related to the central topic. The meat of the situation addresses the 5 W's (Who, What, Where, When, Why) of the knowledge mobilization strategy at hand. Layered communication means using different communication approaches for an appropriate level of depth, determined by the interest level of your audience (for example: a social media post that links to a brief video, then links to a one page summary, followed by a link to a policy brief, and finally connecting to a full technical report or peer-review article). A person can engage with more or less depth by moving through the different layers. The embedded toppings add flavor and customization because you've been thinking about this strategy throughout the research process and have established practices within your team and with partners that you can utilized to add depth and profile to your knowledge mobilization strategy (for example: when initiating the project or during recruitment you discovered that most of your partners are active on Facebook or Linked, or at meetings people mentioned that they enjoy podcasts - emphasize that format in your mobilization approach!). Uptake strategies go beyond dissemination and emphasize how team members and project partners can encourage use, or the application, of this new knowledge. To top it off, the accessibility of your approach and each way of sharing the information completes the burger, ensuring successful mobilization. Be sure to ask team members and partners about the ease of reaching and understanding the knowledge that is shared. Always be ready to adapt your approach!
