Naloxone Education EXchange and Utilization Support Project
The primary goal of the Naloxone Education EXchange and Utilization Support (NEXUS) Project is to translate and mobilize current research evidence, locally available data, and naloxone delivery skills to mitigate the harms of the opioid and drug poisoning crisis manifesting in Saskatoon.
These NEXUS sessions will provide the opportunity to share additional information addressing why people use substances, who is most impacted by overdoses, and how communities can reduce harmful outcomes. Naloxone training events are ideal spaces to disseminate this broader information to community members while empowering them to take action if witnessing an overdose event.
Certain community members perceive they are less likely to be impacted by overdoses, however the available emergency call statistics suggest that requests for emergency response occur everywhere in the city. The educational portion of these NEXUS sessions aims to dispel myths and provide non-judgmental support for community members to equip themselves with the knowledge and naloxone to respond to overdose.
If you would like to book a naloxone training session or inquire about a train the trainer session please email Kayla at kai022@usask.ca.
