Saskatoon Alliance on Substance Use

 The Saskatoon Alliance on Substance Use (SASU) was initially formed in 2017 under the name the Crystal Meth Working Group. The group emerged out of a broader intersectoral collaboration with the broader goals of improving quality of life for those with substance use disorders, particularly methamphetamines, and produced A Community Response to Crystal Meth in Saskatoon report in 2020. Following the pandemic and after changes in the broader collaboration, the group continued to meet and recognized the shifting substance use landscape in Saskatoon. We rebranded ourselves as SASU and kept working together on projects related to community data and system navigation. After a brief hiatus in 2025, SASU began another new chapter in partnership with the Substance Use Research Group for Engagement (SURGE) – Saskatchewan, with added capacity to continue mobilizing the substance use sector toward action-oriented and locally-relevant goals.
